Product details

Rustic Blend Sandstone

The blend of light grey, beige, brown and mid grey sandstone slabs is suitable for a wide range of home and garden styles, but leans more towards rustic and bucolic settings. The mixed blend of colours with these slabs creates an aesthethic that would look great in any cottage or farmhouse garden, where its natural randomness and diverse layout eschews organised comformity and embraces natural variation.

These slabs offer a beautiful natural stone surface for outdoor living with riven surfaces and hand-cut edges. The colouring of this Indian sandstone offers lovely hues of light and smokey greys, beige, tans and soft browns with flecks and veins of whites and darker tones.

Natural Sandstone

Part of the charm of natural stone slabs is that each one is coloured or patterned differently. When you bring them together in a patio or terrace they create a rich blend of colours, tones and patterns to make a beautiful overall paved tapestry.

These slabs have been hewn and quarried from beds of natural stone and then cut by hand. Consequently, each stone also has a unique riven pattern in its surface finish and edge, giving every stone a unique aesthetic - which is the underlying magic of the character of these natural stone products.

Patio Paving

Rustic Blend Sandstone is ideal for patios and garden paving - its natural colouration, stability and texture means it is perfect for outdoor living areas where the family can get together to enjoy the garden and sunshine!

Indian Sandstone

These pavers are quarried from the highest quality Indian sandstone, where our expert quarrymen select and cut the slabs. With their years of experience, our mason cut and shape the stone to exacting standards, so you can be assured you are getting the highest quality paving in each pack.

Colour Blends

The colour variation of natural stone will vary not just from stone to stone, but it will also appear differently in changing light and weather conditions, so you’ll be able to enjoy these fluctuations from season to season. Sandstone is naturally a little permeable, so in wet-weather, some of the surface water will be absorbed by the stone making the light brown and grey colouring appear much darker.

Also, note that there can colour variation between packs as the bedrock they are quarried from will naturally vary, so it is important to mix your slabs from different pack when laying them to create the right tapestry and colour blend and avoiding creating areas of single-colours that juxtapose one another.

Unique Patterning

As with any natural product be aware variation is normal and to be expected. Sandstone is a sedimentary rock which means it was created on the seabed floor as numerous layers of sand were laid down and compressed over many millions of years.  Through this prolonged process where different colour sands are laid down on the seabed, the stone is formed with natural patterning and veins that blend to form this rock.

Colours, tones and patterns vary naturally and that is precisely what you are buying when you select these natural products. These are not bland clones. Each stone is unique, with their own character and natural beauty.

Care & Maintenance

Sandstone is permeable which means it is not impervious to spills and weathering. Therefore to better protect your stone we recommend using a natural stone sealant (Pavestone Natural Finish Sealer) a water-based impregnator that ensures protection against stains and facilitates everyday maintenance.

Installation Advice

We recommend the patio is installed on a sub-base of at least 150mm of compacted DTp1 (MOT) hardcore on which the laying coarse (50mm bed of mortar) will then be placed.

As with all paving slabs, these slabs should be laid on a full bed of mortar and priming slurry should be applied to the underside of the slabs to ensure good bonding and adhesion.

Joint your patio with Pointfix jointing compound which is an all weather epoxy based product that is quick and easy to use and will help prevent weeds and provide the ideal performance you need for your paving joints.
