Dolomite Sunset Moody Paving - This brown-gold porcelain paving slab with rich orange and red highlights has a realistic & natural looking surface with straight contemporary sawn edges. This pack is not in the standard Dolomite Sunset hue, being less saturated and grey in appearance. This pack cannot be colour matched to other paving as it is a factory second, and therefore sold at a discount stand-alone price. It comes in one size:

• 1000 x 500 mm (32 pieces)

Condition - This pack has a colour that is lighter and more desaturated than normal Dolomite Sunset, and so can only be sold as a stand-alone clearance item.

Vitrified Slabs (Non-porous)

The Dolomite Range of Porcelain is manufactured to the highest of quality from one of the finest Italian factories. Utilising pure kaolin clays and minerals, these are then fired at 1200 degrees Celsius. This elevates the slab into a different tier of paving, as the slab is now harder, more durable and now has an extremely low water absorption rate, outperforming natural stone. The Dolomite tiles are 99.5% non-porous which offers so many advantages over natural stone and concrete.

R11 Anti-slip Finish

The Dolomite tiles have R11 anti-slip rating. R11 rated paving is considered to be safe for both wet and dry conditions. This product is suited to all outdoor areas, including patios, terraces, steps and balconies. They are also suitable for indoor areas surrounding swimming pools where anti-slip performance is desired.

R11 rated paving is perfect for elderly people or anyone with children, with the anti-slip rating performance providing better safety than concrete & natural stone in similar conditions.

Resistance & Performance

Dolomite porcelain paving is not affected by seasonal weather changes, offering waterproof and frost-resistant performance. Unlike some stone and concrete slabs that can be affected by freeze-thaw damage/erosion, the Dolomite tiles' vitrified surface and impermeability mean water and damp cannot penetrate the slabs. As water and moisture do not enter the slab, the damaging expanding and contracting freeze-thaw process does not occur.

Colour Preservation

Dolomite porcelain paving will not experience colour fading. Blacks will stay black and not turn to grey, light colours will stay as light colours and will not turn grey/brown. In summary, they will stay looking aesthetically as laid for many years.

Hard-Wearing and Robust

High-performance porcelain paving is incredibly durable and hard-wearing. As well as being weatherproof and frost-resistant, its vitrified surface also means it is resistant to moss, algae and other organic matter. The same goes for other common chemicals that can blemish paving. Dolomite paving is resistant to acid and alkaline from fertilisers and lawn treatments. The hardness and cohesion of this porcelain paving also mean it is abrasion and scratch-resistant too. This all-round toughness and durability means your patio or terrace is going to maintain its appearance and condition for many years.

Low Maintenance

One of the big advantages of high-performance porcelain paving is that it is very easy to maintain. Simply wash once every six months with warm soapy water. That is pretty much it!

Porcelain Paving vs Natural Stone Paving

Porcelain paving ticks all the boxes. The price of porcelain compared to natural stone and concrete initially puts customers off. However, you are paying for the quality and longevity of your garden and lower lifetime-costs. Porcelain will outlive all other types of stone, which will save you money in the long run; especially as typically, the slabs only account for 20-30% of the initial cost of laying a new patio installation. If kept well maintained, your porcelain patio will still look brand new in 10 years time.  You simply can’t put a price on slabs of this quality when looking at the long-term (10 years plus) solution for your garden.

Laying Comments

Dolomite paving has sawn straight edges that are perfectly vertical with respect to the surface. This is a result of precise machining so that each of the four sides will be at a 90° angle to the top and bottom faces of the slab.

As with all paving, it is essential to lay the paving by mixing the tiles from each of the packs that are to be laid. This ensures that the overall desired hue is achieved and evens out any slight colour discrepancies. Laying your patio one pallet at a time can lead to slight but visible colour banding.

It is essential to use a Slurry Primer, which should be applied to the underside of each paving tile just prior to laying - the will ensure proper bonding and adhesion. The base mortar should contain an SBR Bond additive included within the mix. Please refer to the laying instructions if in any doubt.

A flexible Tile Grout should be used and care must be taken not to let it dry on the surface of the tile. We recommend applying a protective sealant to your porcelain tiles to help prevent marking from grout residue (Porcelain Tile Protector).
